Max Brenner

We have all been really busy lately; midterms, studying, and late hours at work have been interfering with our rest and relaxation(bumming on the couch.) So whenever we have had a free moment, our minds have gone straight to Temptation Tuesday. Max Brenner was an obvious choice for our first official Tuesday, since the restaurant is mostly known for their amazing desserts. It didn't hurt that it's only a short walk away (less than 10 minutes), which meant we could burn some calories on the walk home... And we knew there would be plenty of calories for us to burn after this Temptation Tuesday. We made reservations for 9:00, and it was a good thing we did since it was pretty crowded; crowded AND classy in comparison with some of the other East Village spots we've been frequenting. It was a smart move that we made ourselves semi presentable or we would have looked like 3 college girls headed to the meal plan paid buffet.
We pretty much ripped through the menu and decided we wanted everything. However, after much discussion, we decided splitting two desserts would just have to suffice so we wouldn't break the bank or our stomachs. Our first choice was The Euphoria Peanut Butter Chocolate Fudge Sundae, which was a sundae filled with peanut butter and dolche de leche ice cream, caramelized toffee bananas, chocolate chunks, milk chocolate and peanut butter sauce, and covered in whipped cream and hazelnuts bits. On the side, they even included extra chocolate sauce and peanut butter sauce for those who didn't get enough calories in the sundae. Our second dessert choice was the Chocolate Chunks Pizza, with "the works", hazelnuts, marshmallows, peanut butter, and bananas. We obviously killed both desserts...shocker. Bottom line: Soooo amazing, but don't come here on a first date, second date, or third, unless your a supermodel or bulimic, or if your the first person trying to make chocolate and banana all over your face sexy.

Calorie Count-No where to find calories. So basically we consumed more than we should have in an entire day on two desserts.

Sunday Splurge

Okay, its only Sunday, but to our credit, its  almost impossible to walk by Stogo and resist the temptation when were . Stogo is located on 10th street and 2nd Avenue, which is fairly close to our apartment. They reel customers in with their promise to deliver gourmet, healthy, organic, dairy free ice cream that is 2/3 the calories of regular ice cream. Sounds pretty irresistible, eh? In the relatively small ice cream store, they have a glass case filled with a little over a dozen flavors that periodically change. Today some of the flavors included, Peanut Butter Fudge, Vanilla Bean, Mexican Spiced Chocolate, Creamsicle, and Cinnamon Raisin Cookie. We chose two of their most popular flavors, Salted Caramel Pecan and Toasted Almond Joy. The chunks of almonds and pecans scattered throughout really add an extra punch to the already rich and creamy ice cream. Although some ice cream junkies may be hesitant due to its organic and dairy free nature; they should not be fooled by its health conscious label. This is actually unreal ice cream. It does not taste organic or dairy free; but if this is what organic and dairy free ice cream tastes like, then Ben and Jerry's might need to make their own organic and dairy free line. Go here on a night when your feeling fatter than froyo, but aren't trying to look like Precious.

Calorie Count-1/2 cup is around 150+ calories

The Inventing of Temptation Tuesday

Instead of studying or walking around New York City, we have found ourselves planted on the couch watching countless hours of the Food Network. A particular favorite show of ours has become The Best Thing I Ever Ate. The show highlights the Food Network's stars favorite foods all across the country. Being the foodies we are, we ventured onto the show's website only to discover that many of the restaurants featured on the show were in our very own neighborhood (the east village)! We decided that it was our duty to try out all the local desserts that are so easily accessible to us. Hence, Temptation Tuesday was invented; we decided that every Tuesday we would try out a dessert at one of the local favorite spots either featured on The Best Thing I Ever Ate or one we stumble upon ourselves. We plan to discover some delicious desserts in this big city, and share them all with you. So join us on our journey to obesity; come back weekly to read and see the desserts we "sample" each week.
